My youngest brother, who lives in the Adirondacks of upper NY state, posted on FB some winter photos one of which is of a birdhouse on a rustic post and others of some bushes that have red berries, but no leaves. The bushes are known colloquially as “winter berries” which provide birds in particular with food during the snow times.
Although I live in mild California and I do not miss the snow (yes I was born in NY, the state, and know what winter is like) I do appreciate and cherish the good parts of winter times and from time to time revisit those experiences in Watercolor.
Based on his photos I composed this today and titled it : “Winter Cardinals and Winter Berries”.
Canson 140 Lb/300gsm Watercolor paper 9x12 inches/22,9x30,5 CM, split complementary and analogous palette: Alizarin Crimson, Windsor Violet, Vermillion, Hookers green, Cadmium Yellow Light Hue, and a dash of Cerulean Blue.
